Danny Manning has 3 Top 100 prospects coming to campus to check out Mother So Dear.

If I said this was one of the biggest Wake Forest basketball recruiting weekends in almost a decade, would you believe me? You should. Rarely do you get the chance to bring in 3 consensus Top 100 prospects on campus at the same time in the hope of adding them to an already Top 25 class. It's a far cry away from where the program was just a couple years ago, and a testament to what Danny Manning has been able to do in a short period of time here in Winston-Salem. Since 2015, the staff has landed 9 prospects who have been ranked a 4* by at least one premier scouting site. If I were a betting man, I'd put a decent amount on that number hitting double digits by the early signing period this November. Isaiah Mucius, Mike Devoe, and Nate Laszewski are a few prospects that could help get us there, and I couldn't be more excited about their arrival this weekend.

Isaiah Mucius is a highly athletic 4* wing that Wake Forest has been on for a long, long time. Danny Manning first offered Mucius back in September of 2015, which to put things in perspective was when the Class of 2016 only had two of its members verbally committed. Mucius was a priority since the beginning for this class and the staff made him feel that way with constant contact and outreach over the last two years. While he picked up plenty of High Major offers along the way, the Deacs' message of contributing early, playing in the ACC, and being a part of this fast-rising program has clearly stuck over time.

National scouting analysts have Wake trending in the right direction as well in Mucius' recruitment. The Deacs just last night picked up two more Crystal Ball predictions for the talented wing, including one from Director of Scouting at 247, Jerry Meyer. Wake now has 100% of the Crystal Ball predictions and seemingly all the momentum as we head into this weekend. Given Danny Manning's desire for athletic wings in his system and Mucius' skill set and crazy potential, this seems like a perfect fit for both sides. Isaiah Mucius can be an All-ACC type player in the Black and Gold, and a commitment in the next week or so would be the first step into making that a reality.

Mike Devoe is another Top 75 prospect that has been on Wake's radar for the better part of the 2018 recruiting cycle. His Wake recruitment has revolved heavily around his personal connections to those in the program more so than anything else. The addition of Jamill Jones to the coaching staff has done wonders in the developing connection between both sides. Jones, who's known for his premier recruiting ability, was previously in contact with Devoe at UCF prior to his switch over to Wake Forest this past May. 2017 commit and fellow Nike South Beach alum Chaundee Brown has also actively been reaching out to Devoe in the hopes of getting him on board. The Deacs have had a commit from Florida 3 out of the last 4 years, including 2 in 2015. One of those two just got drafted in the 1st round by the Atlanta Hawks. You may have heard of him by now.

The competition for the Top 75 savvy Point Guard is firm as you would expect. Georgia Tech made an impression on him during an Official Visit two weekends ago, and local UF has one scheduled for him as well during the first weekend of October. An interesting side story to follow is Florida's recruitment of three other Top 40 Point Guards for the class of 2018, two of which are on campus right now: Devon Dotson and Elijah Weaver. Meanwhile, Devoe's ability to set up teammates, find ways to get to the rim, and excellent shooting ability have made him the top PG target for Wake Forest heading into the fall. Corey Evans in an article earlier this week said he liked Wake's chances in this recruiting battle, and a commitment over the weekend would help solidify the 2018-19 Demon Deacon roster as one of the best in the ACC.

Finally, Nate Laszewski is making his first trip back to Winston-Salem since an unofficial visit in mid-February. A lot has changed for the NE Playaz product in the last seven months, but one thing that hasn't is Wake Forest's interest in the gun-slinging stretch 4. Laszewski had one of the hottest July AAU seasons of anyone on the circuit, and picked up offers from a number of top programs including North Carolina, Indiana, and Arizona. His final three seems to consist of UNC, Wake Forest, and Notre Dame, the former of which he visits next weekend and the latter of which he is fresh off an OV to. While a lot of the national media have Notre Dame as the favorite, Wake's longstanding relationship with Laszewski could be the difference here when it is all said and done. Danny Manning's ability to spot talent at an early stage allowed him to extend an offer last November, more than eight months before any of the schools listed above jumped in with a scholarship.

Laszewski would fit perfectly in this offense as a stretch 4 and Pick & Roll partner option on the floor. He's a highly efficient shooter who's mobile enough and big enough to likely guard the 3 or 4 at the next level. My guess is a commitment before his senior season is likely, but whether that school is ND, UNC, or Wake is still yet to be seen.

I can't stress enough how exciting the potential impact of this weekend can be for Wake Forest basketball. Landing two of Mucius, Devoe, or Laszewski would immediately propel Wake into the Top 20 National Team Rankings for the 2018 class and further emphasize that the Deacs are ready to make the jump into the upper echelon of college basketball once again. Few things in this world are more momentum-based than an actual college basketball game, but recruiting is absolutely one of them. It's always easier to land your 3rd or 4th Top 75 recruit than it is your 1st. Fortunately, Danny Manning has proven he's more than capable of doing just that, and top recruits around the country are realizing the unique package this school and program has to offer. So sit back, enjoy Homecoming, and stay tuned to social media and BSD over the next week. News that confirms Wake Forest is once again a premier brand in college basketball may be just around the corner...

Is good news on the horizon regarding the four-star out of Brewster Academy?

On the eve of Isaiah Mucius visiting the Wake Forest Demon Deacons for an official visit there were some rumblings of good news, as two 247Sports predictors cast their predictions for the Demon Deacons to land the talented wing.

There have been five predictions thus far, and 100% of them are now on Wake Forest.

Jerry Meyer, the Director of Basketball Scouting, and Chris Fisher, a recruiting insider for CatsPause, a Kentucky blog, both believe that Mucius will wind up in Old Gold and Black.

Andrew Slater of The Devils Den, a Duke blog, was the first expert to predict Mucius to Wake Forest when he did so back on April 5th, 2017.

Mucius is currently listed as the 68th best player in the class of 2018 247Sports composite, and a four-star.

The main competition for the 6-8, 190 pound wing is Xavier, as Mucius took an official visit there last weekend, but left without committing.

It is believed that he will make a commitment shortly after this weekend, which has to bode well for Wake Forest, as the last visit is usually a good advantage.

Randolph Childress is the lead guy on this recruitment and has been all over it from the beginning.

Mucius will play his final season at the famed Brewster Academy, which has advanced to nine National Final Fours in the past decade.

Should Wake Forest land Mucius it would propel the Deacs to 5th in the current 2018 recruiting class behind Michigan State and one spot ahead of Duke.

Ned and Whit bring another edition of the BSD Recruit Report before a very important weekend

It is not a stretch to say that this weekend is one of the biggest recruiting weekends in quite some time for the Wake Forest Demon Deacon basketball program. When something this big is happening it needs to be assessed, dissected, and explored from every angle possible.

Fortunately that is exactly what is done in the most recent episode of the BSD Recruit Report. Ned and Whit come back with a very timely edition of the podcast to take a look at the weekend as a whole.

If you haven’t listened to one of these podcasts before then I cannot recommend them highly enough, and this is certainly the one that you want to listen to so you are up-to-date on the basketball recruiting front to impress all of your friends at the Homecoming tailgate tomorrow.

The duo run down who is on campus, who is likely to commit first, why this weekend is important, and what it means to the future of the basketball program. All of this is done in a bite-sized 20 minute episode.

Wright Jr, Hoard, Mucius, and Devoe. The potential four-man class that could take over the ACC.

If you've been following Wake Forest recruiting, you know Danny Manning seems to be a man on a mission right now. After locking down the class's first commit back in May, he's been prioritizing several 4* targets this summer that are quite interested in the Demon Deacon program. Thankfully, we have a fairly clear picture now after the July Evaluation periods of who else is at the top of the staff's big board for the 2018 class.

There's no need to sugarcoat it; the 2018 basketball recruiting class has the potential to be the most important for this program in a long time. Coming off a trip to the NCAA tournament and the program's first NBA Draft Pick since 2010, there's no denying that Wake Forest has plenty of positive momentum at the moment. Danny Manning has instilled a sense excitement around the Joel Coliseum that was absent for far too long in the early years of the 2010s. Despite the on-court successes and progressive steps, the opportunity to make one big leap forward back into national relevancy is up for grabs as Manning enters his 4th season at the helm. That opportunity is available right now, and it comes in the form of the final stages of the 2018 recruiting cycle.

The staff already has one stud locked into the class, and that's 6'5 CG Sharone Wright Jr out of South Carolina. The staff prioritized him and his high-ceiling in the summer of 2016, and their hard work paid off when Wright Jr announced his verbal commitment to the Deacs on social media back in May. Sharone is a great starting piece for the class, but with likely 3 more open scholarships left for 2018, there's still some recruiting that needs to be done.

If I told you the next 3 commits could help create the best recruiting class in Wake Forest basketball history, would you believe me? You should. Let me hypothetically introduce you to the four recruits that could make Wake Forest basketball a Top 20 program over night. Sharone Wright Jr, Jaylen Hoard, Isaiah Mucius, and Mike Devoe, step right up.

I've already talked about Wright Jr, the son of Clemson legend and Top 10 pick Sharone Wright, as a member of the class. He's a tall Combo Guard who may grow up to 6'7 or 6'8 and be one of the most versatile guards in the country once he reaches Winston-Salem. ESPN has him as a 4* and a top 20 SG in the nation and he picked Wake Forest over Memphis, South Carolina, Clemson, VCU, Florida State and more. He's a great talent with a high ceiling and will certainly have the ability to compete for playing time early in his career.

Next is Jaylen Hoard, A 6'8 forward who put up huge numbers on the AAU circuit this summer for Team CP3 and is close friends with 2017 commit Olivier Sarr. Hoard is a consensus Top 50 recruit, and Scout has him comfortably as a 5* ranked #17 in the entire 2018 class. To say Hoard would be a huge pickup for the staff would be an understatement given his performances on the Nike EYBL tour this year and how he perfectly fits the need of a versatile forward. Hoard also attends Wesleyan Christian Academy over in High Point, the same school Brandon Childress graduated from in 2016. 247sports currently has 5 Crystal Ball predictions for Hoard to Wake Forest by various members of the industry. Wake is in a great spot for him currently and will hopefully receive some good news in the coming weeks from the high-profile Frenchman.

Isaiah Mucius is another talented prospect you are undoubtedly familiar with at this stage of the recruiting process. Mucius, a 6'8 4* SF from Brewster Academy is an athletic wing that Wake Forest has been interested in for a long time now. He has a strong jump shot and is very capable of taking guys on and finishing at the rim. He had multiple breakout games for PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL tour this summer in front of Danny Manning and the staff, and he's a huge priority heading into the fall months. He has an Official Visit scheduled to Wake the weekend of September 15, which is WFU Homecoming and the Bi-Annual President's Ball. If that doesn't hint at how bad the staff wants him I don't know what will. He has the potential to be one of the best players in the ACC in the Black and Gold and would fit perfectly into Danny Manning's fast-paced offense.

Finally, Mike Devoe could round out this class as the next big Point Guard to wear Wake Forest across his chest. Devoe is a crafty 4* lead guard who can score in bunches and also is one of the most talented passers in the class of 2018. He is one of just a few prospects to finish the Nike EYBL season Top 30 in PPG (26th) and APG (12th) all while shooting 42% from 3PT and 81% from the line. The staff has been highly interested in Devoe dating back all the way to last year, and their efforts have led to an Official Visit being scheduled for September 14, the same weekend as Isaiah Mucius.

There's no doubt the staff will be pitching heavily that weekend just how dominant the duo could be at Wake Forest, along with Sharone Wright and potentially Jaylen Hoard as a 4-person class. Noting that he could be the next in line of Muggsy Bogues, Randolph Childress, Chris Paul, Jeff Teague, and Ish Smith at the PG spot isn't a bad thing to mention either I suppose.

All four talented prospects are 4* recruits with the potential to rise even higher in the rankings as their senior seasons progress. Not even factoring in any ranking increases, this four-man class of Wright Jr, Hoard, Mucius, and Devoe would finish on 247sports with a rating of 63.04, which would've been 8th in the 2017 Team Rankings. Across all scouting services, it would be ranked in the Top 15 in the nation and Wake would enter the 2018-19 school year as contenders for an ACC title. That roster could potentially include this Top 10 recruiting class, Bryant Crawford, Chaundee Brown, and five (5!) other players who were rated as a 4* by at least one scouting service coming out of HS. If you want depth, you've got it.

The program would also be loaded with perimeter players who can be slotted at three positions or more comfortably. This idea of positionless basketball with crazy athleticism from 1-5 is where the game of basketball is going, and Wake Forest would have a roster built for causing matchup nightmares and a run-and-gun style. This squad wouldn't just be good, it would be damn fun to watch multiple times a week in front of huge crowds at the Joel. After all, who doesn't want more of this?

Danny Manning is on the verge of building an absolute powerhouse here in Winston-Salem, and these four recruits have the potential to be the catalyst for Wake's ascension to that next level. The staff is ready, the Joel is ready, and the fans are ready. If Hoard, Mucius, and Devoe also feel ready to call Wake home, the Demon Deacons' return to the upper echelon of college basketball will arrive even sooner than expected.
