GREENSBORO, NCWake Forest starting pitcher Rhett Lowder was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week, per a release by the conference Monday afternoon.

Lowder is fresh off a seven-inning, scoreless appearance in a 3-0 win against Louisville Saturday, leading the charge for the Demon Deacons’ first-ever series victory at Jim Patterson Stadium.

In the start, Lowder allowed just five hits and struck out nine.

As of Monday, the junior ace now holds a 1.61 ERA in 56 innings, both of which are the best in the ACC. His 67 strikeouts only trail teammates Sean Sullivan and Josh Hartle, and his seven victories are tied atop the conference.

This is the second time Lowder has been awarded the ACC Pitcher of the Week — his first came in late March following a three-hit scoreless effort against Miami. Sean Sullivan has also been honored twice this season, making it the fourth time for Wake Forest in nine weeks.

After securing the series win in Louisville this past weekend, Wake Forest now turns its attention towards Liberty in a midweek matchup before traveling to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers.
