The Wake Forest Women’s Basketball Team has found their new coach. Athletic Director John Currie announced Thursday night that he has hired American University head coach Megan Gebbia to fill the role that was vacated after Jen Hoover was let go earlier this month.

Gebbia has an all-time record of 160-105 as a head coach and became the winningest coach at American this season after notching win number 151. In her 9 years as the head coach at American, Gebbia has tallied 5 20-win seasons, 3 NCAA Tournament appearances, 2 WNIT appearances, 3 Patriot league regular season championships, 3 Patriot League Tournament championships, and 2 Patriot League Coach of the Year awards.
Even with all that success, Gebbia seems to keep things fun with her players—that kind of reminds me of another basketball coach at Wake Forest.

Since Wake Forest made a coaching after the May 1st transfer deadline, that deadline was extended until June 1st. Now that the Deacs have hired a coach, I would expect any players who were thinking about transferring will make their decisions in the next couple of days. Hopefully the Deacs get everyone back for next season.
Welcome to Wake Forest Megan and Go Deacs!
