In case you missed it, the Wake Forest Diamond Deacs are pretty good. They are currently receiving votes in several polls and on the cusp of breaking into the top 25. Our boys are in the top 10 in the nation in several offensive categories, have one of the strongest middle relief pitching corps in the NCAA, and have a fielding percentage north of .980. The team is off an away series win over Georgia Tech, which was ranked #6 in the nation. One of the more impressive stats is that until this weekend's games, the Wake pitching staff had not given up more than 5 runs to any opponent. Of course, that changed this weekend when they gave up 5, 7 and 14 runs to GT, but Wake scored 27! runs on Saturday. The players go deep into counts and are very disciplined at the plate.
The ACC has had six teams in the top 25 this year, and Wake is not one of them. If I lived anywhere close to W-S, I would be getting out to the Couch at every chance to see this team. Instead, I have to watch the game by description on the Wake Forest app. Go see the team. They are playing some really great ball.
