Grimes: "I chose Wake Forest because I think it has the balance of everything I need to get to the next level."https://t.co/F39Dy6LTgb pic.twitter.com/pn7jMxer95
According to the 247Sports.com Composite, Grimes is a top 700 recruit in the nation and top 20 in North Carolina. He’s the third highest-ranked commitment in the 2022 class for Wake Forest behind 4 Star DE Eli Hall and fellow high 3 Star RB Demond Claiborne. Grimes chose Wake over NC State, Louisville, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Vanderbilt amongst others.
Grimes projects as a true X receiver in any offense, but especially for Wake Forest. He constantly finds himself behind defensive backs, has strong hands, and truly isn’t afraid to go up and get the ball.
Week 2 9 receptions 2 touchdowns and 150 yards!!! https://t.co/T2LPcCbfxq

Grimes is a guy I could easily see getting some early playing time next year. He’s a good 6-2, 180 pounds, so with a summer under the watch of college coaches, he could easily put on a few more pounds and be able to sustain hits. With Jaquarii Roberson and Donald Stewart departing after this year, it’s easy to project a move of Taylor Morin back to the slot to add depth there with Ke’Shawn Williams, until a guy like Christian Greene is ready. That would leave a room with only Donavon Greene, A.T. Perry, and Jahmal Banks as guys with game experience, leaving the door open for new faces like Grimes to come in and battle with the guys who will redshirt this year for a spot.
