It’s been Busy!!

The first week of June is behind us, while thankfully the high school class of 2022 and beyond got their first real taste of meeting coaches and taking both unofficial and official visits to campuses. This will be the first of 5 parts, recapping every week in June.

Without further ado, let’s dive in.

New Offers

Basketball: 2023 PF Amani Hansberry, 2022 Wing Danilo Jovanovich, 2023 G Trevor Smith, 2023 PF Owen Freeman, 2023 C Gus Yalden

Football: 2022 DB Zamari Stevenson, 2022 OT Bradley Mann, 2023 QB Creed Whittemore, 2022 DL Jack Pyburn, 2022 DB Braden Turner

Cam’s take: To be quite honest, I was just shocked there weren’t more offers put out. However Clawson and his staff trust their in-person evaluations so what’s done is done, and I’m sure if need be they’ll reach back out.

Faces on Campus

Some names that were taking visits last week

Basketball: 4-Star and Top 30 player Jalen Hood-Schifino,

Football: QB Commit Brett Griffis, WR target Wesley Grimes, High 3-Star RB Demond Claiborne, 4-Star DE Eli Hall, 2023 WR Chris Lawson Jr.

Cam’s take: It’s not hard to see who the football staff was prioritizing to start the recruiting year. Wake is battling against NC State and Duke hard for Wesley Grimes, who’s also camping at Clemson and Notre Dame. A fun tidbit is that Eli Hall, a day after his visit ended, announced that he’d be moving up his commitment date up almost from October to July.

Who’s Next?

A look at who’s on campus this week

Basketball: CG MJ Collins, Big Man De’Ante Green(Official Visit)

Football: WR target Tyler Johnson(Cousin of Traveon Redd), OT Derrell Johnson, CB Jackson Vick, DT Jalen Swindell

Cam’s take: With Will Shaver committing to UNC, getting De’Ante Green on campus for an official is huge and Wake can make significant strides with the #1 player in North Carolina. On the football side of things, whether it’s someone visiting this week or last week, I wouldn’t be shocked to see another commitment or two. From speaking with visitors and campers last week, Wake has been blowing people away with visits, and given how tight spots are, they’ll be snapped up soon.
