Commitment Analysis: DB Andre Hodge

Another speed demon in the fold

Another camp prospect, another offer, another commit. Last week, CB Andre Hodge very much earned an offer from Wake Forest and soon after, committed and shut down his recruitment.

Officially listed at 6-1, 180 pounds, you have to love the size since we’ve confirmed that it’s not wildly inflated. With that length, it’s not surprising to see him consistently making plays, whether it’s stepping up and wrapping the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage, or being able to use that wingspan to make a play on the ball in the air.

Did I mention he ran a 4.37 40 yard dash while being sick?

With that speed and size, there’s not really a reason Paul Williams shouldn’t be able to mold him into a fantastic corner. As a reminder, Williams has 11 players on active NFL rosters and has produced 13 NFL draft picks from five different schools.

Hodge was a guy who also shut his recruitment down right after committing to Wake, so it’s not surprising to see more offers. A note I’ll make here: there just aren’t that many offers at any level right now due to the scholarship crunch. Space just isn’t there, so you’re seeing fewer people with this laundry list of offers than in years past.

Regardless of the offer list, I love this addition as much as I loved Caelen Carson

Welcome to Winston, Andre!
