While only 1 Demon Deacon heard their name called during the 7 rounds of the NFL Draft, 2 more found a place to shoot their shot and compete for a spot.
Jamie Newman - Philadelphia Eagles

While I joke about a QB factory being built in Philly, it’s honestly a good spot for Newman to land and make a roster. Right now the Eagles only have 2 QBs on the roster and I don’t foresee them making a move to add another. While there aren’t a lot of things that are certain as an UDFA, this spot seems perfect for him to grow and grab snaps as QB3 behind Jalen Hurts and Joe Flacco.. It also doesn’t hurt that the Eagles are in rebuilding mode, so youth of any sort is going to be welcomed there.

This one is an interesting spot. The Lions have done well in the past with bigger-bodied receivers, and with new coach Dan Campbell wanting to be a more physical team, this makes sense. The key for Sage here is going to be staying healthy, but there is a clear path to the roster here. Still slightly shocked he wasn’t taken, alongside Newman, but what’s done is done.
I’m proud of these two and will be keeping an eye out to see where Jack Crane ends up as well. Regardless of getting drafted or signing a contract after the draft, Wake had some strong representatives to now track on Sundays.
Go Deacs.
