The former Wake Forest Demon Deacon defensive end, Carlos Basham Jr. (or as we know and love him..... Boogie), has been selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. Picked 61st overall in the second round of the draft, the Roanoke, Virginia native goes to the Buffalo Bills.

Basham joins relatively recent Wake Forest safety, Jessie Bates III, as recent second round draft picks. The Buffalo Bills surprisingly made the AFC Championship Game but fell to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Though personally not a fan of “hot-take” grades immediately after picks, the following is from CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso as he grades every pick in the draft.
61. Bills: Carlos Basham, EDGE, Wake Forest
Grade: A
Must’ve been BPA after edge rusher pick in Round 1. Basham is a freaky mover at close to 275 pounds. Can really bend and is quick. A tick inconsistent when he doesn’t win instantly. His heavy hands wreak havoc. Buffalo bolstering pass rush.

Congrats to Boogie as he starts his career in the league. Always very proud of how hard Basham played for the Deacs and will definitely root for him at the next level.
