Freshman Emmanuel Okpomo to Transfer from Wake Forest

The Deacs are losing another player

Freshman center Emmanuel Okpomo has officially entered the transfer portal and will no longer be playing for the Deacs.

The 6-10 center saw action in 14 games this season, averaging just 1.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in about 10 minutes per game. His best game as a Deacs came against the NC State Wolfpack, where he finished the game with 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks in 11 minutes played.

With the loss of Okpomo, Wake Forest is basically down to two bigs on the roster, Ody Oguama and Tariq Ingraham; finding some size this offseason either by recruiting or in the transfer portal is going to be an absolute must for the coaching staff. The Deacs currently have just 2 guards committed for the 2021 recruiting class, so a transfer is probably the best bet to getting some depth inside.

As with Jahcobi Neath, who transferred earlier this week, Okpomo did not play in either of Wake’s final 2 games. Based on that pattern, I would not be shocked to see Isaiah Wilkins, who also did not play in the final 2 games, enter the portal.

Again, we will have to wait and see if this is the final transfer or if there are more to come.
