Gina Conti Named ACC Player of the Week

Conti did it all for Wake this week

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: MAR 06 ACC Women’s Tournament - Wake Forest v Florida State

Wake Forest senior guard Gina Conti has been recognized as the ACC Player of the Week (alongside Elizabeth Kitley) for her outstanding performance in the past couple of games for the Deacs. Conti averaged 23.5 points per game against Notre Dame and Virginia Tech, shooting a red hot 60% from the field, including 62.5% from beyond the arc.

Against the Fighting Irish, Conti went absolutely en fuego from 3-point range, hitting on 8-12 from downtown, and finished with 29 points. Her 8 three point makes were 1 shy of tying the school record held by Chelsea Douglas and Elisa Penna, per Conor O’Neill. She also finished the game with just 1 turnover in 39 minutes played.

Against the Hokies, Conti led the Deacs in scoring with 18 points on 5-9 shooting in 29 minutes of action, helping Wake Forest to pick up their 4th ACC win of the season.

Wake Forest needs to figure out what they have to do to get Conti to stick around for another season and start doing it immediately, because she has become one of the best players to wear the old gold and black in recent history.

Congratulation to Gina, and Go Deacs!
