Our weekly predictions are back. Without further ado, here are the staff’s predictions as the Deacs host #1 Clemson to kick off the season Saturday night.
Adam
Clemson 51-Wake Forest 10
Cam
Clemson 40-Wake Forest 17
Give me the under and Wake covering.
Samurai
Clemson 38-Wake Forest 3
Bart
Clemson 52-Wake Forest 7
My prediction is pain. Clemson jumps on Wake early and often en route to a 52-7 win. Wake may tack on a late score but Clemson wants to show everyone they’re the best team in the country. And quite frankly, they probably are.
Edward
Clemson 45-Wake Forest 10
Clemson is the #1 team in the nation and has two potential Heisman candidates in Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne. Lawrence is likely the #1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and Etienne is the reigning ACC Player of the Year. It doesn't matter that Lawrence’s favorite targets from last year are gone, he’s just that good. Boogie Basham and crew can only do so much against this offense. This game would be closer if Sage Surratt were playing, but I still wouldn't give Wake a chance of keeping it close. The Deacs have only managed a field goal the last couple of matchups, but with it being the first game in a season unlike any other I’ll say we get a touchdown this time. Our only hope is that with the delayed start to the season and odd circumstances Clemson comes out very rusty and isn't able to get into a groove early. Expect it to be a long night for our Deacs on national television.
