John Hunter has got his guy as Wake Forest received a commitment from a stellar recruit today.

Will Towns stands 5-11, 190 pounds coming out of Jackson, New Jersey. He chose Wake over West Virginia, Boston College, Vanderbilt, App State, and Pittsburgh among others.

Watching Towns’ tape was probably some of the most fun I’ve had watching running backs this recruiting class. He has impressive speed, he fights through tackles well, but I think the best thing he does is what he does without the ball. He seems more than competent already running routes, and is not afraid(and seems good) at laying down blocks when required to.

Towns will join a backfield loaded with talent in Christian Beal-Smith, Quinton Cooley, Kendrell Flowers, Kenneth Walker III, and Ahmani Marshall. I’d assume that this would be the only running back in the ‘21 class given any more would create a log jam.

With the addition of Towns, Wake will jump to 31st in the 247 sports rankings, which would be good for 8th in the ACC. Even with a long way to go, this could play out to be one of, if not the best recruiting class in Wake Forest history. DaveClawson and company still have a few big time recruits they’re pursuing, and it’s a long time until signing day.

But for now, let us all welcome Will Towns to the Wake Forest family. John Hunter has done a stellar job recruiting and developing running backs and I’m sure that will continue here.

Welcome to Winston!
