Dave Clawson Takes Voluntary Pay Cut

Clawson continues to show why he is one of the best

NCAA Football: Pinstripe Bowl-Michigan State vs Wake Forest Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Wake Forest has announced that Head Coach Dave Clawson has volunteered to take a 10% pay cut in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Having lost a large amount of revenue from the cancellation of the NCAA Tournament and other sporting events due to the pandemic, athletic departments around the nation are having to make difficult decisions on how to best prepare for the future.

It is estimated that the cancellation of the NCAA Tournament cost schools of all divisions around $375 million in payouts from the NCAA. If the 2020 football season becomes endangered due to the pandemic, there will likely be several more sports cut across the college landscape.

This is just one more reason why I am happy we have a guy like Dave Clawson at Wake Forest. Not only is he a really good football coach who has led the Deacs to four straight bowl games, but he’s also willing to put the needs of others in front of his own in times of hardship. That is a true leader.
