On Wednesday, the Deacs were led by a career day from Ivana Raca, who tied a career high with 27 points and 13 rebounds and pushed the Deacs past the 12th seeded Tar Heels.

Christina Morra and Alex Sharp both added 19 points to the effort as the Deacs used a 16-5 run to start the 4th quarter to put away UNC.
Wake Forest followed up that first round win by beating the 21-8 Virginia Tech Hokies 58-55. They were once again led by Raca, who finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds. The Deacs hung their hat on defense in this one, holding VT to 36% shooting and keeping ACC Freshman of the Year Elizabeth Kitley to just 15 points and 7 rebounds (she had 21 and 14 in the previous game against the Deacs).
For the second straight game, the Deacs started the 4th quarter on a run, this time building a 7 point lead over the Hokies. Wake Forest would hold onto that lead for the remainder of the game, in part due to some clutch free throws from junior Gina Conti with just 8 seconds remaining in the game.
A. WHOLE. MOOD.
