Wright is the second player to enter the transfer portal this month, following fellow 2018 commit Michael Wynn.
In his Wake Forest career, Wright saw action in 51 games, averaging 5.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. After starting 20 games and playing over 20 minutes per game his freshman year, Wright had difficulty finding his way onto the court this season. He didn’t start a single game and played just 9.2 minutes per game in the 2019-20 season, averaging just 2.7 points. The only reason Manning ever gave for his reduced role was that the rotation was set at the end of November, and Wright missed several games in November due to illness.
Wake Forest now has just 1 player—Isaiah Mucius—remaining on the roster from the 2018 recruiting class, which was ranked 23rd nationally and 4th in the ACC.
And as always, we would like to wish Sharone the very best going forward in his basketball career. Good luck!
