33 days. That’s the length of the break for Wake Forest Men’s Basketball due to COVID, both their team and opposing teams, contact tracing, and the holidays.
Wake Forest just announced they’ll be playing Cawtaba at 4 pm on New Year’s Eve. Earlier in the week Wake had their game vs Syracuse for December 30th postponed due to contact tracing in the Syracuse program.
"We are glad that our student-athletes will get some time with their families over the next two days and we’re fired up to get back on the court this weekend to prepare for the Indians and the start of ACC play next week!” @ForbesWakeHoops #GoDeacs https://t.co/GM5CRcFrVN

The team was very much in need of some sort of warm-up going into ACC play given the long layoff and cancellations. Wake also announced yesterday that both Tariq Ingraham and Ian DuBose would be out indefinitely. Ingraham due to recovering from COVID-19, Dubose for “medical reasons”, so this seems like a way to ease the team back into things and figure out what they have down these two players that were firmly in the rotation.
It will be interesting to see what the team looks like after the long layoff and kudos to Steve Forbes for letting the guys go home for the Christmas holidays after such a grueling year. Hopefully, the guys get to recharge their batteries, stay healthy and enjoy being with their families.
