Wake Forest football will be playing in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte on December 30 at noon against Wisconsin.

The Deacs will be involved in something involving Duke’s Mayo and the Charlotte Sports Foundation after all after the 2020 Duke’s Mayo Kickoff Classic between Wake Forest and Notre Dame was postponed and then cancelled.

Wake Forest finished the season at 4-4 overall and 3-4 in the ACC after having several games postponed and then cancelled due to COVID-19.

Wisconsin finished at 3-3 after playing 6 games in the Big Ten due to COVID-19 issues of their own.

The Deacs have played in Bank of America Stadium twice before.

They won the 2007 Meineke Car Care Bowl 24-10 over Connecticut. They also won the 2017 Belk Bowl 55-52 over Texas A&M in one of the most exciting games in the history of college football (the writer was there and may be just a little bit biased).

This year will be quite different, and attendance will be limited due to the pandemic, but here’s hoping the Deacs improve to 3-0 in Charlotte bowl games! Go Deacs!
