Matt Gulbin, a 6 foot 4, 290 pound offensive lineman (most likely guard but maybe also a tackle) out of Wilton High School in Wilton, CT has signed to play with Wake Forest. The three star prospect chose Wake over offers from Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, Air Force, Buffalo, Coastal Carolina, and Colorado State.
Gulbin seems to be a very athletic offensive lineman, capable of moving out in space and shuffling his feet in pass protection. The Wake Forest offensive line has quietly continued to be solid, providing running lanes and time for Sam Hartman to lead an efficient offense. Typically, offensive linemen in the Clawson era take a little time to develop. It shouldn’t be a surprise if Gulbin takes a redshirt year to grow into his big frame.
While Connecticut is not exactly a pipeline of talent, Gulbin jumps off on film with his play and demonstrates that he can move and play with a nasty streak.
Welcome to the Demon Deacon family, Matt!
