Wake Forest Safety Nasir Greer Out for 2020 Season

Crushing news for such a great player

NCAA Football: Louisville at Wake Forest Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

During Dave Clawson’s weekly press conference, Junior safety Nasir Greer was declared out for the season as he deals with recovery from his ACL tear at the end of last year.

It’s been a tumultuous season for the budding star as he was going through the thick of his recovery while battling a pandemic. Greer played in 3 games this year, Clemson, NC State, and UNC(2 snaps), but never really seemed to be quite healthy. It’s tough to see another season-ending injury on the defensive side after years and years of having it happen, Wake just can’t seem to stay healthy on that side of the ball and it’s honestly just baffling to see why that’s the case.

In 72 games, Greer has 113 tackles, 2 interceptions(and one hilarious touchdown against Daniel Jones), 6 passes broken up and 5 fumbles forced. Without Greer, and when the cupboard is healthy, Wake will look towards Zion Keith, Trey Rucker, Luke Masterson, Nick Andersen and JJ Roberts to continue to fill the snaps.

It’s tough to hear that Nasir is out especially after Clawson raved about him having such a good practice the week prior. Get well soon Nasir, and lets enjoy one of the best plays of his career to welcome him back in 2021.
