ACC Covid Issues Adjust Wake Forest Football’s Schedule

We knew this was coming

NCAA Football: Wake Forest at Syracuse Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Wake Forest will flip two of its upcoming contests to help enable other league members to make up game dates lost to pandemic-related cancellations.

This weekend, the contest in Durham will still take place against the Duke Blue Devils. However, prior to today, following this game was supposed to be a game against the top 15 ranked Miami Hurricanes two days after Thanksgiving and a faltering Louisville Cardinals the week after.

Miami has been riddled with positive COVID-19 cases so they are having to postpone their game this weekend against Georgia Tech and push the Wake game back a week. Thankfully Louisville was able to swap, or else Wake was at risk at getting a game officially cancelled, remember the Notre Dame has been moved to the week before the ACC Championship game and Wake has no more bye weeks.

I sincerely hope all those affected, players, staff members, families, people around the world recover quickly and without any side effects. It’s been touch and go all season dealing with the pandemic.

Wake Forest will play four-consecutive road games (Oct. 31 at Syracuse; Nov. 14 at North Carolina; Nov. 21 at Duke; Nov. 28 at Louisville), while finishing up the season at home vs Miami and then Notre Dame in the Duke’s Mayo Classic in Winston-Salem. That is, if there aren’t anymore cancellations. Only time will tell.
