BSD Staff Predictions: Wake Forest @ Syracuse

The staff agrees this SHOULD be an easy win for the Deacs

NCAA Football: Syracuse at Clemson Ken Ruinard-USA TODAY Sports

Wake Forest takes on Syracuse tomorrow afternoon as the Deacs look for their third consecutive conference win and fourth consecutive overall win after defeating Virginia Tech 23-16 last Saturday. The game is set for noon at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York.

Here’s how the staff thinks the outcome of the game will be:

Cam (4 correct-Clemson, Campbell, Virginia, & Virginia Tech; 1 incorrect-NC State):

Wake Forest 35-Syracuse 14

I think Syracuse comes out and gets a few big shots here and there and keeps themselves in the game for a bit until the depth war takes over and they just can’t stay fresh; Wake’s fast-paced offense takes over and the defense finally clamps down.

Samurai (3 correct-Clemson, Campbell, & Virginia; 2 incorrect-NC State & Virginia Tech):

Wake Forest 35-Syracuse 10

Adam (2 correct-Clemson & Campbell; 3 incorrect-NC State, Virginia, & Virginia Tech):

Wake Forest 45-Syracuse 24

Syracuse can’t stop the run and the Deacs run up the score.

Bart (2 correct-Clemson & Campbell; 3 incorrect-NC State, Virginia, & Virginia Tech)

Wake Forest 41-Syracuse 23

I think Wake is gonna be able to move the ball well and the defense has stepped up lately. Big chance to get a road win.

Edward (2 correct-Clemson & Campbell; 3 incorrect-NC State, Virginia, & Virginia Tech):

Wake Forest 38-Syracuse 17

Wake’s defense seems to have finally figured it out, and that is bad news for a Syracuse team that is really struggling to move the ball down the field and score. Christian Beal-Smith and Kenneth Walker III are both having explosive years out of the backfield, and I see no reason why one or both of them shouldn’t have another 100+ yard rushing game and score multiple touchdowns. Wake has too many weapons on offense for Cuse to stop, and the defense should be able to more than handle the depleted Orange offense. The Deacs should ride a four game win streak into the bye, and look to continue to build on their momentum. I’ve picked against the Deacs the last two weeks and been wrong, so I’m taking them to win big this time and look to turn my picking fortunes around.
