Wake Forest takes on Virginia Tech tomorrow afternoon as the Deacs look for their second conference win after defeating Virginia 40-23 last Saturday. The game is set for 3:30pm at Truist Field.
Here’s how the staff thinks the outcome of the game will be:
Cam (3 correct-Clemson, Campbell, & Virginia; 1 incorrect-NC State):
Wake Forest 48-Virginia Tech 45
Putting all on the line here. Virginia Tech is 2-7 ATS with four outright losses in its last nine games as a road favorite according to @Chrisfallica.
A lot of talk has been around, rightfully so, “how can Wake stop VT on the ground?” But yet we don’t hear a lot of talk about ”How can VT stop Wake at all?”
VT has given up more yards overall, points per game, and graded 12 points lower than Wake’s defense according to PFF. This has all the makings of a shootout and I like Wake’s chance way more there than a grind it out style of game. Hooker and Hartman go toe to toe all game, the announcers STILL call them both Howell, but a costly turnover helps get Wake into FG range for an automatic Nick Sciba FG.
Samurai (3 correct-Clemson, Campbell, & Virginia; 1 incorrect-NC State):
Virginia Tech 38-Wake Forest 10
I think this will get ugly, unfortunately.
Adam (2 correct-Clemson & Campbell; 2 incorrect-NC State & Virginia):
Virginia Tech 45-Wake Forest 38
I don’t think either of the defenses will be able to stop anything, so it will probably come down to turnovers.
Bart (2 correct-Clemson & Campbell; 2 incorrect-NC State & Virginia)
Virginia Tech 47-Wake Forest 34
Wake won’t be able to stop Hooker, but the offense shows up again; just not enough to win.
Edward (2 correct-Clemson & Campbell; 2 incorrect-NC State & Virginia):
Virginia Tech 47-Wake Forest 38
This game will be all offense with very little defense displayed. Hendon Hooker will have a field day against Wake’s defense, and Kenneth Walker III will run all over Virginia Tech’s defense. Wake falls short in a shootout, but the offense looks impressive yet again.
