After a tough loss to a really good Louisville team, the Deacs returned home and got back to their winning ways Thursday night, defeating the Virginia Cavaliers by a score of 62-56. With the win, Wake Forest improves to 11-6 overall and 4-2 in the ACC.

The Deacs started the game off hot, jumping out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first 3 minutes and building that to an 18-7 lead by the end of the 1st quarter.
The Deacs never trailed in this one, as they would hold onto that early lead for the remainder of the contest. The Cavaliers made a run at it, however, and managed to cut the deficit to just 3 points on a Dominique Toussaint 3-pointer with just 3 minutes remaining in the game. Gina Conti, who has been no stranger to big moments this season, ultimately iced the game with a big a steal and a layup that was to much for the Cavs to overcome.
Conti finished the game with 21 points on 6-10 shooting (3-5 from 3) and 3 assists. Junior Ivana Raca also had another great game, scoring 20 points on 7-15 shooting (2-4 from 3) and grabbing 6 rebounds. Senior Alex Sharp had an off night shooting but added 4 assists and 9 rebounds to help the Deacs pick up the win.
Wake Forest next plays on Sunday at 2pm at #9 NC State. They return home on January 23rd to take on Florida State.
