Washington had seven receptions for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the Deacons’ 41-21 victory over the Rice Owls on Friday night. He had a 25-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter that gave Wake the lead for good at 21-14 and helped turn the momentum back towards the Old Gold and Black after Rice had come back and tied the game. He also had a 59-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter that gave the Deacs a 34-14 lead.
Scotty also has a rather sizable lead in our “Deac of the Week” vote which you can weigh in on here.
This is the second straight week that a Wake Forest player has been the ACC’s Receiver of the Week, as Sage Surratt was named to this title last week after his performance against Utah State.
Wake Forest has a very deep and talented receiving corps, and I look for them to pick up many more awards as the season goes on.
Here’s hoping another receiver steps up against North Carolina this week and makes it three weeks in a row that Wake Forest claims this award. Go Deacs!
