Wake took care of business against Elon. Not much more needs to be said, so here are your nominees for Deac of the Week:
QB Jamie Newman

Jamie Newman took advantage of Elon’s defense to put together another excellent performance. He finished 27 for 35 (77%) for 351 yards and 5 touchdowns (tying a school record set by Riley Skinner and John Wolford), along with one interception.
RB Kenneth Walker

There was a good amount of buzz about Walker coming out of the offseason, and he has shown why. He had 91 yards and a touchdown on only 9 carries against Elon, for just over 10 yards per carry (coincidentally, over the three games he’s played this year, Walker has exactly 10 yards per carry with 310 yards on 31 touches). He also caught one pass for 15 yards.
WR Scotty Washington

I could just as well have put Sage Surratt here, as he extended his touchdown streak to 6 games and had a very similar statline to Washington’s. But, Scotty ended up with a few more yards, catching 9 passes for 141 yards and 2 scores. Plus, Sage won the vote last week.
Honorable Mentions
Sage Surratt (8 catches, 112 yards, 2 TDs), Michael Kern (a perfect 5-5 for 42 yards and a TD in relief of Newman), Jaquarii Roberson and A.T. Perry (who each caught their first career touchdowns for the Deacs), Justin Strnad (6 tackles, 2 solo, 1 sack and another 1.5 TFL).
