The Wake Forest Demon Deacons celebrated on going 4-0 last night after defeating the Elon Phoenix 49-7 (as Samurai recap’d it in Haiku). With the victory and the fact that eight ranked teams lost last evening, the Deacs have now climbed to #24 in the Coaches Poll.

At the top remains defending National and ACC Champions, Clemson. Virginia also joins Wake Forest as a ranked team at the number 18 spot (rest of the poll can be found here).

Wake Forest has not been a ranked team since 2008, when many members of the BSD staff past and present were students (off the top of my head, myself, the Johnston brothers, Rob, Samurai, and I believe grumpy). Props to Coach Dave Clawson and Deacs football as the program gets national recognition.

Soon, the AP poll will come out which is typically viewed as the more “official” ranking until the Committee starts releasing numbers. It’ll be close, but let’s keep the good vibes rolling Deac Nation.
