The rare happy haiku!

Jamie Newman, damn

UNC game this was not

Clawson went for kill

There is literally no way I can come up with three negatives for this game, come on now. Wake Forest as a team racked up an insane 607 yards of offense to only 183 given. Jamie Newman tied a school record 5 passing touchdowns to only a single interception, and that interception was extremely close to being another touchdown. The rushing attack wasn't shabby either, racking up 214 yards at 5.1 yards per carry and an additional touchdown. Dave Clawson had no chill, going 3-3 on 4th down, two of those conversions also resulting in touchdowns. I know, Elon is a cupcake, but holy moly. If I'm being honest, I think that with the loss of #25 TCU to unranked SMU and a few other higher upsets,if Wake Forest isn't ranked, they'll be darn close, and if the Deacons can head north and defeat Boston College next week, it will remove any doubt.

This has been a pretty special first third of the season, and this team is showing themselves as every bit capable of keeping the train rolling. Is that a guarantee? Of course not, but the schedule is pretty favorable, and even the backups are looking quite good. Special shout out to true freshman backup quarterback Michael Kern, who went a seemingly effortless 5/5 passing for 42 yards with one touchdown and an additional 22 yards on the ground in garbage time. This is quite possibly the most offensively talented Wake Forest team we've ever had. That might be hyperbole but I don't really think it is.

On to the next. Go Deacs.
