Wake Forest football is racking up ACC Player of the Week awards so far this season, with three Demon Deacons being named to this week’s list for their performances in Friday night’s win over North Carolina.

Sage Surratt was named as the conference’s receiver of the week for the second time this season, after also winning the award in week one. Wake Forest has won this award every week so far this season, as Scotty Washington won it last week. Surratt finished with 9 receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown. He also has the most receiving yards by any player in the country in a half this season after racking up 157 yards in the first half.

Carlos “Boogie” Basham was constantly in the backfield causing problems for North Carolina on Friday night, and was a major reason that the Tar Heels were held to just 71 yards of total offense in the first half. Boogie had five tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one QB hurry.

Nasir Greer had ten total tackles, with five of them being solo, and forced a North Carolina fumble in the first quarter that set up the first Wake Forest touchdown of the night.

It is somewhat surprising that Justin Strnad, who had 15 tackles (6 solo) and a sack, was not also recognized. But I guess you can only give so much credit to “Little Old Wake Forest”.

Congrats to these Deacs who were named ACC Players of the Week. Go Deacs!
