It’s finally here! For the first time at home since 2012, Wake Forest hosts North Carolina tonight in the oldest football rivalry in the state of North Carolina.

The BSD staff give their predictions for the outcome of the game below.

Cam (2-0)

Wake Forest 38-North Carolina 31

A healthy Cade Carney and one of Sage (Surratt)/Scotty (Washington) get loose all night long. UNC hangs around for a while but the legend of Jamie Newman keeps on rolling and puts to bed the UNC hype train. GTHC!

Elijah (2-0)

Wake Forest 28-North Carolina 24

Deac fans need to come out and support for this epic game. Wake Forest is in a unique situation to go 3-0 after this contest against a surprisingly improved UNC team. Entering the season, many had this as good but not extremely tough challenge, now the national perception has morphed a bit and the Tar Heels are viewed to be neck and neck after a strong 2-0 start. Credit Mack Brown and freshman quarterback Sam Howell for turning around the fortunes very quickly.

The Wake offense is not of my concern but the defense still hasn’t quite proved to be as stout as many had hoped. In the end, home field matters and I believe the Deacs will. Wake Forest in ALL BLACK wins, 28-24.

Riley (2-0)

Wake Forest 34-North Carolina 31

As with all games that are projected to be close, this one is going to come down to who wins the turnover battle and who can remain more disciplined on both sides of the football. Both teams have protected the ball very well this year and limited penalties. North Carolina lost two key players last week in its close win over Miami when its best CB and starting center went down with injuries. The CB injury could not have come at a worse time for the Heels, as the Deacs boast the 11th best passing offense in the nation and have the two leading receivers in yards per game in the ACC in Scotty Washington and Sage Surratt. While Hinton will be out for Wake, I see a huge advantage on the outside that Jamie Newman can exploit and convert downfield. This should be a back and forth, high scoring affair similar to the Utah State game. Ultimately I think the Wake Forest defense will step up in the 4th quarter and get the turnover it needs to get the win in this massive early season rivalry game.

Adam (2-0)

North Carolina 41-Wake Forest 38

Reverse Jinx engaged.

Samurai (2-0)

Wake Forest 27-North Carolina 21

The offense continues to hum, including huge catches from both Scotty Washington and Sage Surratt on the go-ahead touchdown drive, and the defense does just enough to hold it together.

Edward (2-0)

Wake Forest 38-North Carolina 35

This game will have an absolutely electric atmosphere assuming Mother Nature cooperates, and I fully expect the game to be sold out by kickoff. My hope is to see at least 75% old gold and black in the stands to give the team that added boost from the fans. I like the Deacs to come out strong early and win in a very close, hard fought game. Jamie Newman continues his quest to be mentioned in the Heisman conversations, and Sage Surratt and Scotty Washington continue their already outstanding seasons. Sage wins the battle of the Surratt brothers, and maybe even throws a stiff-arm in on his big brother. GO DEACS!!! BEAT THE TAR HEELS!!!

Grumpy (1-0)

Bart (1-0)
