At this link, Athlon Sports ranked all 130 FBS coaches. Dave Clawson came in at 33, meaning he's comfortably in the top third of all college coaches according to Athlon. That's pretty great, but it's even better when you think about some of the names he comes in ahead of. Les Miles (#58), Ed Orgeron (#51), Will Muschamp (#50), Dana Holgorsen (#47), Dave Doeren (#37), and even Mack Brown (#35). He's even within five spots of Gus Malzahn (#29). That's a lot of coaching pedigree and a lot of success. Multiple national titles, conference titles, ten win seasons and bowl wins out the wazoo are all boasted by these names. I realize a number of those names are slightly off from their peaks, but they're still names that have done incredible things that are synonymous with college football.
This isn't a gigantic story per se, but I thought it was definitely worth reporting, and it's great to see Coach Clawson getting some of the national recognition he truly deserves.
Here's to another exciting upcoming football season with our top tier coach at the helm. On to the next. Go Deacs.
