The Orlando Sentinel has been running a preseason college football ranking as the college football season creeps up with Fall camps starting in about a month. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons checked in ranked 63rd, just in front of Western Michigan at 64 and UCLA at 65.
The outlook for the Deacs per the Sentinel is that Wake Forest will “struggle to extend their bowl streak”. The same rankings had a few more ACC programs behind the Deacs. North Carolina, Maryland, Duke, Louisville, and Georgia Tech were all ranked behind Wake Forest.
On offense, the Deacs will be replacing many key players such as WR Greg Dortch and NFL draft pick OG Phil Haynes. In addition a couple other “Beef Boys” have also graduated with Ryan Anderson and Patrick Osterhage graduating.
Defensively, the Deacs will miss some linemen, especially Zeek Rodney and Chris Calhoun. Do-it-all S Cam Glenn will surely be missed as well.
Although not a very thorough breakdown, it’s good to see that football is starting to creep up. Soon enough, Wake Forest will begin another season where they try to prove the doubters wrong as they go for their fourth straight bowl game and victory.
