Former Wake Forest women's basketball star Dearica Hamby is having the best year of her WNBA career yet through nine games this season for the Las Vegas Aces.
Through nine games, Hamby is averaging 18.8 minutes, 10.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game. All of these numbers except for minutes played are career highs.
She is shooting 51.4% from the field, a career-best 35.7% from three, and a career-best 81.8% from the free throw line.
Hamby is Wake Forest’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder.
She is coming off of a career-high 27 points against Dallas on June 22nd, a feat which she achieved while playing just 22 minutes.
During the WNBA offseason she plays for Ragusa in Italy.
Dearica was selected sixth by the San Antonio Stars (now the Las Vegas Aces) in the 2015 WNBA Draft. She was the first Wake Forest player ever selected in the WNBA Draft.
Here’s hoping Hamby continues to have a career-best year.
