The former Demon Deacon was unfortunately not selected in the 2019 draft but latched on quickly with a two-way contract.

The 2019 NBA Draft has come and gone. Unfortunately for the Wake Forest Men’s Basketball Program, Jaylen Hoard was not drafted. As Ed Foster shared yesterday, Hoard looked to be the last draft pick since John Collins was selected in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft.

However, that being said, Hoard quickly found a home after the draft was over.

Hoard will join the Portland Trailblazers on a two-way contract. The contract allows for developmental players to split their time in the G-League along with traveling with the NBA franchise.

Hoard will join former Deac Al-Farouq Aminu and both players are ironically somewhat similar in size and skillset (long and athletic). Although his time was limited with the Deacs, it’s good to see that his talent was strong enough to shake off the rough college career and potentially find a path to make it in the NBA.

We wish Hoard nothing but the best as he begins his professional career.
