As first reported by Pete Thamel at Yahoo Sports, Dave Clawson has agreed to a new contract that will make him the head coach at Wake Forest through 2026. The 8 year deal apparently also comes with a significant pay raise, which Clawson has undoubtedly earned after winning back to back to back bowl games.

You can read the official Wake Forest release of the contract here.
In the last 3 years, Clawson has posted 3 straight winning seasons and collected bowl wins over Temple, Texas A&M, and Memphis. When asked about the new deal, Clawson said: “Wake Forest is making a significant commitment to personnel, resources and facilities that will benefit the entire program and position us to remain successful. Our staff is thankful and determined to continue being a perennial bowl team with the goal of competing for championships.”
Based on the timing of the new deal, I have to assume that this is the final action that Ron Wellman will make before John Currie takes over as Athletic Director on May 1st.
I think I speak for all Wake Forest fans on this one when I say that locking up Clawson for another 8 years is a fantastic move for the program.
GO DEACS!
