We have a slight schedule change in the 2019 football schedule. The first road game of the season against the Rice Owls, which was originally scheduled to be played on September 7th, has been moved back 1 day to Friday, September 6th.

Our 2019 road opener at Rice, originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7, has been moved up to Friday, Sept. 6. Kickoff has been set for 8 p.m. (eastern). #GoDeacs pic.twitter.com/8QCdRXYkJz
The reason for the move is to accommodate CUSA’s TV package, according to the Wake Forest release.
The change actually helps Wake Forest, as the Deacs host UNC at home on the following Thursday. Moving the game to Friday gives coach Clawson and the rest of the coaching staff an extra day to prepare on the short week.
For those of you keeping track at home, this change means that the Deacs open the season with back to back Friday games before the Thursday night game against UNC. Strangely, Wake doesn’t play on a Saturday this season until week 4 when they take on Elon at home.
Make sure you mark your calendars and change your plans accordingly, as you definitely don’t want to miss the Deacs take on Rice, which again, is now occurring on Friday, September 6th, at 8PM
