Wake Forest Basketball-Where Are They Now?

An update on some of your favorite former Wake Forest basketball players

Another article that you, the readers, asked for on Twitter was an update on some of your favorite former Wake Forest basketball players.

I tried to gather information on everyone that was asked about on Twitter, however there just isn't data available for everyone.

If you don't follow me on Twitter (@Edward_Foster4) and didn't respond to my tweet, then your favorite player may not be included.

A special thanks to Bobby Hoekstra (@bho52 on Twitter) and Eric Williams for their help in gathering information about many of these Demon Deacon basketball alumni.

Kyle Visser

Kyle is now a realtor and basketball coach in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Skip Brown

Skip is starting a new community bank, Community Bank of the Carolinas, in Winston-Salem.

Jerry Schellenberg

According to WakeNetwork, Jerry is living in King, North Carolina, and is an associate at Prepaid Legal Services, Inc.

Cal Stamp

According to WakeNetwork, Stamp is living in Pfafftown, North Carolina, and is a former physical education teacher in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.

John Hendler

According to WakeNetwork, John is living in Maryland as a Regional Sales Director at MCI Communications Corporation.

Kenny Herbst

Herbst is now an Associate Professor of Marketing in the Wake Forest University School of Business.

Shamaine Dukes

Dukes is now living in Atlanta, Georgia after finishing his basketball career at Georgia State.

Guy Morgan

Morgan is now a Sports Marketing Consultant in the Triad area.

Helms passed away in October of 2018.

I reached out to Eric on Instagram. The following is an excerpt from his response: “I have played 12 years in Europe. The last country was Switzerland. Debating on how many more years I want to play, but right now I’m still enjoying the basketball and the travel.”

Stan King

King is living in New York, and is the Program Director at the Madison Boys and Girls Club.

Richard Joyce

Joyce is living in St. Louis and working as a financial advisor for Wells Fargo.

Timmy D is still living in San Antonio. He owns BlackJack Speed Shop, is now participating in martial arts, and is probably doing a whole lot of other really cool things in his retirement.

Songaila is now working as a player development assistant for the San Antonio Spurs.

Mike Lepore

Mike served as video coordinator and director of scouting/recruiting at Wake Forest before moving on to be an assistant coach at St. Louis and San Jose State. He also coached the Wake The Nation TBT team in the summer of 2018. He is now working as a private wealth advisor for Merrill Lynch in Atlanta.

LD Williams

Bobby is now living in Cleveland, Ohio and is working in the finance department for the Cleveland Indians.

Michael Drum

Virginia v Wake Forest

Drum is currently living in Atlanta working as a managing partner for a private equity firm.

Cameron Stanley

Travis “Scooter” Banks

According to WakeNetwork, Travis is now the manager at Tires, Inc. in Clinton, North Carolina.

Chuck Kepley

According to WakeNetwork, Chuck is now living in Roanoke, Virginia and working for Boxley Materials Company.

Vytas Danelius

Vytas is living in his home country of Lithuania. I reached out to him on Facebook. Here is a portion of his answer: “I played basketball professionally for 3 years in Russia and Germany. I also coached 14years old in Scotland as a volunteer. Right now I’m retired from basketball and am bee farming in Lithuania where I’m originally from. I’m still a huge Wake Forest basketball fan and follow the news on internet.”

Anthony is working as a youth mentor at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wayne County in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Kenny Green

According to WakeNetwork, Kenny is back in his hometown of Eustis, Florida.

Rod Griffin

According to WakeNetwork, Griffin is living in Fairmont, North Carolina.

Lee Foye

Foye is living in High Point, North Carolina.

Coach Carl Tacy

Coach Tacy, or “Gentleman Carl” as some called him, is now retired and living in Advance, North Carolina. He still attends many Wake Forest basketball games.
