BSD Staff Predictions for Wake Forest at Virginia Tech

Can the Deacs get a win in a tough road environment?

NCAA Football: Belk Bowl-Arkansas vs Virginia Tech Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Wake Forest finally won coming off of a bye week last week, and this week it travels to Blacksburg for a tough road test against Virginia Tech at 3:30 on Saturday. The Hokies have made this “Bud Foster Day” in honor of the retiring defensive coordinator, and you've got to think that the Hokie fans will be out in force.

Here are the picks by the BSD staff for tomorrow’s game.

Samurai (7 Correct-Utah State, Rice, UNC, Elon, BC, Florida State, & NC State; 1 incorrect-Louisville)

Wake Forest 34-Virginia Tech 27

Wake wins another close one, thanks to another incredible effort from Jamie Newman and the Wake Forest offense.

Edward (7 Correct-Utah State, Rice, UNC, Elon, BC, Florida State, & NC State; 1 incorrect-Louisville)

Wake Forest 38-Virginia Tech 31

I don't really know what to expect in this one. The Deacs are good, but Virginia Tech, especially the defense, should be motivated by the festivities for Bud Foster. In the end the Wake Forest offense is too much and the Deacs escape with a win.

Cam (7 Correct-Utah State, Rice, UNC, Elon, BC, Florida State, & NC State; 1 incorrect-Louisville)

Wake Forest 34-Virginia Tech 21

Think the turnovers were the only reason they were in that game against ND.

They won’t be able to run well, the secondary is playing well, and I don’t think think they can stop one Jamie Newman.

Elijah (6 Correct-Utah State, Rice, UNC, Elon, BC, & NC State; 2 incorrect-Louisville & Florida State)

Wake Forest 35-Virginia Tech 31

The Deacs are riding high after a blowout victory against the Wolfpack and being ranked for the first time in program history for the College Football Playoff.

Coach Clawson shook off the bad juju from bye weeks but now must try to shake off the team from overlooking a tough opponent in Virginia Tech before traveling to face the Clemson Tigers. It’ll be a close one, but I think the Deacs are on a mission to see this run through. Wake Forest wins in a close back and forth battle.

Riley (6 Correct-Utah State, Rice, UNC, Elon, BC, & NC State; 2 incorrect-Louisville & Florida State)

Virginia Tech 35-Wake Forest 31

Adam (5 Correct-Utah State, Rice, Elon, BC, & NC State; 3 Incorrect-UNC, Louisville, & Florida State)

Wake Forest 31-Virginia Tech 21

I have no idea what to expect in this one. VT has some key players injured and the Deacs are the better team, but Blacksburg is Blacksburg.

Grumpy (3-0)

Bart (1-0)
