Why Wake needs Clemson's help to get to Miami

Last night, for the first time since the CFP Rankings came into effect in 2014, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons were on the list of 25. The Deacs come in at number 19 after being 22 in the AP and 20 in the Coaches Poll. There were many "shocks" when the top 6 teams were announced but one of those mean much more to Wake then the others. Clemson, the defending National Champions and currently on a 24 game win streak, is ranked at 5. If you are a Wake fan, this did not look good for one main reason: to make the Orange Bowl, Clemson would either need to win out in the ACC and win the ACC Championship in Charlotte, NC on December 7, or Wake would need to beat Clemson and win the ACC Championship. Most likely, however, Clemson would make the CFP if they win out. First, the top four teams play each other at some point. #2 LSU plays at #3 Alabama this weekend and #4 Penn State plays at #1 Ohio State. This would insure that Clemson would be ranked in the top four since only two of the four teams can remain undefeated. Wake just needs to worry about the upcoming games they have on their schedule and not get too far ahead of themselves. This week, the Deacs take on the Hokies in Blacksburg, VA at 3:30 on the ACC Network.
