BSD Staff Week 12 ACC Power Rankings

Clemson should be in a league of their own

NCAA Football: Wake Forest at Clemson Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

Clemson should probably be in a different conference for football, as they are so far above the rest of the league it’s not even funny. As such, the Tigers could lose their final two games and still remain atop the Power Rankings.

How it works: Each writer gives a ranking and a brief description. All rankings are averaged and compiled into an overall ranking.

Individual ACC Power Rankings

Adam

1) Clemson: Apparently they are pretty good.

2) VT: Took care of business against GT, ranked in the top 25

3) Virginia: Bye

4) Miami: Bye

5) Wake Forest: Killed by Clemson, just like everyone else this season except UNC

6) Pitt: Beat UNC in OT

7) UNC: Lost to Pitt in OT, just switches places.

8) Louisville: Beat NC State, bowl eligible in Satterfield’s first year

9) FSU: They beat Alabama!...State. Doesn’t really change anything

10) BC: Bye

11) NC State: Lost to Louisville, have to win out to get to 6 wins and go to a bowl.

12) Syracuse: Got their first win in blow out fashion on the road at duke. Can still make it to a bowl somehow.

13) Duke: Somehow got killed by Syracuse, who hadn’t won an acc game AT HOME! 4 game losing streak too.

14) GT: Killed by VT

Elijah

1) Clemson: proved their dominance

2) Virginia Tech: dominates Georgia Tech after beating Wake Forest.

3) Virginia: could be 2 but what have you done for me lately.

4) Wake Forest: a bit sliding but chance to regroup against Duke.

5) Pitt: might actually be a really solid squad.

6) Miami: the talent here is scary and starting to really put it tonight.

7) Louisville: hasn’t done anything wrong but 2-7 are all really close.

8) Florida State: a bit of a dropoff but very talented. New voice may be helping more than people anticipated.

9) Boston College: solid but nothing special.

10) UNC: another close loss but Mack is not back yet.

11) Duke: absolutely got destroyed by Syracuse in a surprise.

12) Syracuse: finally on the board with a conference win in dominating fashion.

13) NC State: hard to win with third string QBs but the slide back as been brutal (4 straight L’s)

14) Georgia Tech: back to the cellar after a blowout loss to VTech.

Samurai

I don’t know, I’m just sad at this point.

1) Clemson

2) Virginia Tech

3) Wake Forest: I don’t believe for a second getting chokeslammed by Clemson in Death Valley down Surratt, Washington, Strnad, and Masterson makes any other ACC team overtake us. The next three are all pretty darn interchange though and you could make arguments at this point about them being #3.

4) UVA

5) Pitt

6) Louisville

7) Miami

8) Florida State: How on Earth did they get bowl eligible?

9) Boston College

10) UNC

11) Syracuse: Wait what? They housed Duke?

12) NC State

13) Duke

14) Georgia Tech

Cam

1) Clemson: If i have to explain why, look at their last 2 years

2) Virginia Tech: Due to the h2h they get the nod and have looked to be a halfway decent team. These next two weeks will tell us a whole lot.

3) Wake Forest: Getting trounced by Clemson isn’t something I’m willing to punish a team for, especially missing 2 of your top 3 receivers, best LB and another starting LB. Just move on and win the next two weeks against inferior opponents.

4) UVA: This team is Bryce Perkins and Bryce Perkins alone. Liberty should be easy, but that VPI game seems real tough for them to win for the first time in what, 15 years?

5) Miami: I can’t quit this team and they quietly might be 8-4 after it’s all said and done. Disappointing but still fine

6) Pittsburgh: It’s just really hard for me to get behind a team that just can’t offense.

7) FSU: h2h gets them here and they have all the talent in the world just wildly disappointing

8) UL: this team is a downright mystery. Wins over Wake and UVA but got clocked by Miami and made NC State look like... not a total joke?

9) BC: somehow 5-5, if they made a bowl it’d be fun but the Daz way

10) UNC: I mean Mack is back right?

11) Syracuse: h2h and they looked really good last week! Don’t think they keep it up though

12) Duke: bunch of frauds man. They can’t stop the run, they cant protect harris, when harris does have time he throws picks. Just bad

13) NC State: Always next year!

14) GT: don’t. wanna. talk about it

Edward

1) Clemson: No explanation necessary. They won't be challenged until the playoff.

2) Virginia Tech: The hottest team by far outside of Clemson. The Hokies are running on all cylinders right now.

3) Virginia: Still have a chance to win the Coastal, but they will have to beat Virginia Tech for the first time in a long time to do so.

4) Wake Forest: A loss to Clemson without your top two receivers isn’t exactly shameful.

5) Pitt: Still technically has a chance to win the Coastal. One of the better teams in that division.

6) Louisville: Bowl eligible in the first year of a rebuild with a chance to finish second in the Atlantic. Nice job, Scott Satterfield!

7) Miami: A chance for a fairly decent season after that brutal start to the season.

8) Florida State: Odell Haggins should be Florida State’s next head coach if he wants the job.

9) North Carolina: They’ve got to be on pace for some sort of record for most losses by one possession.

10) Boston College: Not a great season, but they are within one win of making a bowl.

11) Duke: This team started strong, and then completely fell apart. Wake had better be careful this weekend, as the Devils look to keep their bowl hopes alive.

12) NC State: A bowl isn't technically out of the question, but it’s a long shot at this point. Dave Doeren’s seat has got to be getting warmer.

13) Syracuse: Finally won a conference game after smoking Duke.

14) Georgia Tech: It’s gonna be a long rebuild in Atlanta.
