BSD Staff Predictions for Wake Forest vs. Louisville

The staff are all confident, in spite of the Deacs’ past record coming off of bye weeks

NCAA Football: Wake Forest at Boston College Adam Richins-USA TODAY Sports

Wake Forest has its ACC home opener tomorrow night as the Deacs host Louisville at 7:30pm at BB&T Field. The students are on fall break, so everyone in the area should come out and cheer on the Deacs as they look to improve to 6-0 for the first time since the 1940s.

Without further ado, here are the picks by the BSD staff for tomorrow’s game.

Elijah (5-0)

Wake Forest 27-Louisville 24

The Deacs have had a lot of time to prepare and get healthy. Sometimes however, too much rest can lose momentum and harm a hot team. Hopefully for the Deacs, this is not the case as Jamie Newman looks to continue to ride a hot streak. The defense hopes to stay relatively healthy and strong, especially as the Deacs go into the bulk of the conference schedule.

Louisville impressed many with their showing against Notre Dame in week one and also last week with a big win over Boston College. The Deacs get the Cardinals under the lights with the shiny gold helmets. Home field and bright lights gives the Deacs just enough to win in a very close game.

Riley (5-0)

Wake Forest 38-Louisville 28

This game is a bit tougher than what most Wake fans probably thought it would be entering the season. Scott Satterfield has done a really good job in year one at the helm for Louisville and they will look to carry that over to an upset win in Winston-Salem on Saturday night. The Deacs are coming off of a bye week, where under Dave Clawson they are 0-6. An off-season change to the practice routine will hopefully help keep Wake on track and to a 6-0 start for the first time in school history. The Louisville pass defense has struggled a good bit all year and that is a pretty big issue for the Cards as they face off against one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Jamie Newman. I think this one is going to be another close game for the Deacs and they will need to be firing on all cylinders to win their 8th straight game dating back to last season. In the end I think the home-field advantage and a fourth quarter turnover will get the W for Wake.

Samurai (5-0)

Wake Forest 24-Louisville 17

I‘m going to go with Wake because it’s at home and I think we’re the better team but unfortunately I see this game being close like all the others.

Cam (5-0)

Wake Forest 42-Louisville 28

I think we see a middle ground between the FSU game and BC for how the defense fares against Louisville. More broken plays than FSU had but way less than BC.

I think both teams showed Wake what the game plan should be against Louisville: run the ball effectively and attack the middle of the field. I will pin my hat on Cade and Kendall having the games we think they can have. But please lets not let Tutu Atwell get behind us cause that dude can BURN.

Edward (5-0)

Wake Forest 30-Louisville 27

The Deacs are 0-6 following bye weeks under Dave Clawson, but the staff changed their approach to bye weeks this time around. Scott Satterfield’s squad keeps it close, but in the end the experience of the Deacs and homefield advantage pay off. Jamie Newman continues to look like a Heisman candidate.

Adam (4 Correct-Utah State, Rice, Elon, and BC; 1 Incorrect-UNC)

Wake Forest 41-Louisville 35

Should be a pretty high scoring game but ultimately the Deacs come out on top.

Grumpy (3-0)

Bart (1-0)
