It was a nail-biter at times, but Wake beat BC to stay undefeated at 5-0 and earn top 25 rankings in both the Coaches (#20) and AP (#22) polls. Here are your nominees for Deac of the Week:
CB Amari Henderson

Henderson picked off Anthony Brown on the fifth play of the game. The Deacs scored on the resulting drive and didn’t allow BC to take a lead the rest of the way. Henderson had three tackles as well.
LB Justin Strnad

As usual, Strnad was all over the field on Saturday. He ended up leading the Deacs with 13 tackles (9 solo), .5 TFL and 1 QB hurry. He also was involved in the pass breakup shown above which prevented a possible touchdown on the Eagles botched FG attempt (which would have given BC a lead).
WR Scotty Washington

Washington had a somewhat pedestrian outing by his standards this year. He finished with five catches for a game-high 94 yards, and a touchdown that put the Deacs up 27-17 with under 10 minutes to go.
Honorable Mentions:
Tyler Williams (7 tackles, 2 solo, .5 TFL), Jamie Newman (243 yards, 2 TD, and 1 INT on 64% passing, 102 yards rushing), Essang Bassey (INT), Nasir Greer (10 tackles, 6 solo), Kendall Hinton (6 catches, 67 yards, three 3rd down conversions)
