The polls closed with exactly 500 votes cast, and the Deac of the Week for the season opener at Tulane is Sam Hartman. Congratulations to Sam!
Hartman earned over two-thirds of all votes for DOTW. He did that despite a few freshman mistakes, by setting top-ten marks in school history for passing yards and yards from scrimmage in going 31/51 for 378 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. He was also Wake’s leading rusher, with 64 yards on 13 carries (4.9 YPC).
Hartman’s performance wasn’t just noticed by Wake (and Tulane) fans:

378 yards and two touchdowns Incredibly impressive for his first career start. Made EVERY throw: touch, ball placement, accuracy, and arm strength.
Now, to the highlights:
Who do you think will step up against Towson? We’ll have the nominees up after the game; and as always, Go Deacs!
