DOTW Vote: Wake vs. Boston College

Who gets your vote as Deac of the Week?

NCAA Football: Boston College at Wake Forest Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Wake was handed its first defeat of the season by Boston College this week. These posts are more fun to write after a win, but even in the loss were bright spots to appreciate. Here are the nominees for Deac of the Week:

RB Matt Colburn

The running game finally got going for the Deacs, after a slow start in the first two games of the season. Colburn rushed 23 times for 117 yards and a score (5.1 yards per carry), and added 16 yards on a couple of catches. He also hit one of the cleanest spin moves of all time.

RB Cade Carney

Carney also broke triple digits, with 18 carries for 116 yards (good for 6.4 yards per carry) and one reception for nine yards. He also made a huge play on special teams, recovering a muffed punt at BC’s 13 yard line that set the Deacs up for their first touchdown.

WR Greg Dortch

It was a relatively quiet day for Greg Dortch - meaning he caught 9 passes for 93 yards and added 71 yards on return duties. That’s not counting the long return above, which was negated by a block in the back call (with the refs apparently not seeing the late hit out of bounds).

Honorable Mentions

Justin Strnad, Dom Maggio, Sage Surratt, Demetrius Kemp

So, who gets your vote? Who else impressed? Here’s hoping for a rebound and a big upset against ND next week. Go Deacs!
