This week we play in a hurricane. However that doesn’t stop this train! I got a chance to sit down with A.J Black from over at BC Interruption . You can also find him on twitter @BCHysteria If anyone has any questions they’d specifically like me to ask week to week depending on the opponent feel free to let me know in the comments or just shoot me a tweet @CamLemons_
BSD: What’s been the biggest difference about this team since Wake played them last year?
BCI: AJ Dillon and the play of the offensive line. With Dillon’s explosive capability it opens up a myriad of other plays, including bootlegs and play action and allows BC to move the ball effectively. Of course none of that would be possible without the players up front, and BC has some big boys up front who have really gelled including Chris Lindstrom (who will be playing on Sunday next year), Aaron Monteiro, Ben Petrula and Jon Baker. They really have changed the dynamic up front.
BSD: Outside of AJ Dillon and Zach Allen, who do you look for to make an impact in this game on each side of the ball?
BCI: I would look to quarterback Anthony Brown, he came back from his knee injury from last year and looked amazing his first two games. He looks confident and is making good decisions. It will be a different challenge with a legit ACC defense in his face, but what I’ve seen so far is promising. The other positions I would look for on offense are the tight ends. BC has Tommy Sweeney who is a future NFL-er, long, fast and physical but also Korab Idrizi, Ray Marten and Hunter Long all of whom have made plays so far this season. On the defensive side of the ball I would look for Lukas Denis at safety and the linebackers, all of whom have made big plays this season .
BSD: What realistic expectations did the BC faithful have coming into this season and how has the team lived up to this so far?
BCI: Realistic? I think most fans were looking at a 7-5 season, and hopefully a bowl win. With the first two weeks completed, and watching the rest of the ACC play, I think expectations have jumped. Many are hoping for 9-3, and see no game on the schedule (Clemson being the exception) that isn’t winnable for the Eagles.
BSD: How big does the base/yourself think this game is?
BCI: On my weekly Final Thoughts And Predictions Post (link here) I gave this an 8. My reasoning from the post: “BC’s first game against an ACC opponent this year, and a peer school, a team that BC should battle and win. BC fans should get to see how this team is really built. Other than an early start time kind of dampers it a bit, but let’s all get out of work early and cheer on those Eagles!”
BSD: How do you think the weather holds for the game(i had to ask):
BCI: Thinking it should be fine, looks warm and partly cloudy.
BSD: BC Wins if they come out and do what?
BCI: Run the ball effectively. Get AJ Dillon going early and often and test that Demon Deacons defense.
BSD: On the contrary, what can they not do if they want to win this game?
BCI: Turnovers, my god the Eagles were a mess last year when they played at Chestnut Hill. Wake scored 21 points off turnovers against BC last year, BC will lose if they do that again.
BSD: Lastly, who wins, why, and score?
BCI: I have BC winning 28-13. I just think the Wake Forest injuries are too much, and they don’t have enough up front on defense to stop a healthy AJ Dillon.
Thanks so much to the guys over there at BCI, but let’s prove em wrong today.
Go Deacs.
