Former Wake Forest and current Oregon WR Tabari Hines had some interesting comments regarding his new quarterback while comparing it to his former one.
Wake Forest grad transfer @TabariHines on playing with Justin Herbert: "I’ve never been able to play with a quarterback of his caliber. He makes throws that I wouldn’t call risky, but are NFL type throws. It’s amazed me. It makes my job easier."

While Herbert may have a better chance at making it as a pro NFL prospect, the type of quote seemed to draw the ire of some Wake Forest fans, who were quick to point out the stats argument (Wolford had 29 TD’s in 2017 alone while Herbert has thrown for 34 TD’s in his two-year career). Other fans pointed to the level of competition as well, with Wake Forest having to play in a conference that has been to the College Football Playoff every year since inception.
Hines, announced his decision to join the Oregon Ducks over the Texas Longhorns and USC Trojans after his junior season as a graduate transfer. As a graduate transfer, Hines will not have to sit out a season and is eligible to play immediately.
While he is no longer a Deac, let’s hope this quote is just a “caught up in the moment” one and not a “throw as much shade as I can” one.
