Devin Thomas will officially be suiting up for “Wake The Nation” this summer in “The Basketball Tournament.” The 6’9”, 248 pound forward is the sixth team member to be announced, with another former Deacon to be announced on Sunday. You won’t want to miss who gets announced tomorrow. Thomas joins teammates LD Williams, Travis McKie, Justin Gray, Nikita Mescheriakov, and Eric “Big E” Williams. Thomas played for the Demon Deacons from 2012-2016, and averaged 11.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game during his career. As a senior, Thomas averaged a double-double by scoring 15.6 points and grabbing 10.2 rebounds per contest. He finished his career with nearly 1,500 points, and hauled in 1,061 rebounds. Devin was certainly known for his aggressive demeanor, and I fully expect that competitiveness to show up in TBT with so much money on the line. Additionally, his left hand should prove to be very effective around the basket.
Devin currently plays for RETAbet Bilbao Basket in the Spanish ACB league, which is one of the top leagues in the world. He is averaging 8.8 points and 3.9 rebounds on 63% shooting for the season in 19 minutes per game. Last season, Devin played for Aykon TED Kolejiler Ankara in the BSL league in Turkey. He started in 25 of 27 games and averaged 11.4 points and 7.7 points per contest. Despite his averages decreasing this season, his competition is much greater and his PER (an efficiency metric) has increased from 13.9 to 22.9, which is a fairly significant jump. Devin combined with Big E down low, should be a very formidable pair.
