Former Wake Forest Center “BIG E” Eric Williams will be joining his fellow Demon Deacons this summer when he dons the uniform of “Wake The Nation” in The Basketball Tournament.

The dominant big man out of Wake Forest, North Carolina is the fifth player on the roster to be announced following LD Williams, Travis McKie, Justin Gray, and Nikita Mescheriakov.

Williams played for the Deacs from 2002-2006, and was named to the All-ACC Second Team in 2005 and All-ACC Third Team in 2006. He was named to the 2006 Second Team All-ACC Tournament, and was an Honorable Mention All-American in 2005. Big E was the perfect inside presence to go along with guards Justin Gray and Chris Paul.

He is ranked in the top ten in the Wake Forest record books in 17 different categories, and is also 14th all-time in the ACC for career field goal percentage.

He finished his career first in single-game offensive rebounds for Wake Forest with 11, 2nd in all-time field goal percentage at 59.3%, 2nd in career personal fouls (380), 3rd in career games started (121), 2nd in single-season games started (34 in 2005-06), and 2nd in single-season field goal percentage (63.0% in 2004-05).

For his career, Williams averaged 13.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 0.9 blocks.

His senior season he averaged 16.3 points and 8.9 rebounds.

Williams’ career highs were 29 points and 20 rebounds. He always seemed to play well against rivals Duke and North Carolina, after Skip Prosser beat out Mike Krzyzewski and Matt Doherty to get Williams to come to Wake.

After graduating from Wake Forest in 2006 with a degree in Sociology, Williams has been in Europe for most of his career after brief stints in the NBA Summer League in 2006 and 2007. His best year likely came with Consultinvest VL Pesaro in 2009-10, where he averaged over 14 points per game, over 8 rebounds per game, and over 2 steals per game.

Big E is currently a member of Les Lions de Geneve in Switzerland.

I am personally very excited to see Eric Williams come back because he was always one of my favorite players growing up. His energy and enthusiasm on the court were something I always looked forward to, and his play with J-Gray and CP3 for Coach Prosser and his uptempo offense are some of my fondest memories of Wake Forest basketball.
