Travis McKie will officially be suiting up for “Wake The Nation” this summer in the entertaining “The Basketball Tournament” showcased on ESPN. McKie is the 2nd player announced as part of the “BSD/Wake The Nation TBT Roster Launch Week,” in which we are rolling out a new player on the roster every day at noon through Sunday. Yesterday, team leader and former Deacon wing LD Williams was confirmed for the squad, and we have five more names to release over the next couple of days here on the site. Stay tuned for all of that, but first for today...

McKie was a warrior for the Wake Forest teams from 2010-2014, starting every single game over his four years through one of the more difficult times in the program’s history. He was a two-time All-ACC Honoree and is one of just 8 players to total 1600 points and 800 rebounds in his time as a Deac. He finished his career averaging 13.3 PPG, 6.4 RPG, and a two-year captain in Black and Gold. He also closed his career at the Joel on a high with an 82-72 win over a Jabari Parker-led #4 Duke team and a court-storming, which is never a bad way to go out.

McKie played one season for the Austin Spurs/Canton Charge of the NBA G-League before heading overseas in 2015 to play professionally abroad. His most recent destination has been to the Lebanese 1st division where he has played for Louaize and Al Moutahed Tripoli over the last two seasons. He has averaged over 16 PPG and 6 RPG since the start of 2016, and been one of the most efficient players in the league when on the court.

Travis will bring a layer of versatility to “Wake The Nation” this summer, potentially being able to play anywhere from the 3 to the 5 depending on the lineup Coach Lepore runs out. He was always a solid shooter from behind the arc at Wake Forest, and will be a threat to score at multiple levels in this summer’s TBT. I’m excited to see Travis back in Black and Gold in just a couple of months and see what he can do with this talented group of Deacon players.

We have 5 more names to release from Wednesday to Sunday so be sure to stay tuned to BSD for all your latest “Wake The Nation” news and updates!
