The 2017-2018 basketball season has come to end for our beloved Demon Deacons, and I think we can all agree it didn’t go as well as we had all hoped. It wasn’t all bad though, as we were able to witness a much improved Doral Moore absolutely dominating teams above the rim all season. Moore was able to throw it down an incredible 88 times this season (including the ACC Tournament) by my count, which would be ACC record (since 2004) if this tweet is to be believed.
Most Dunks in a Season by an ACC Player since 2003-04 (1st year for which I have data):
— Adrian Atkinson (@FreeportKid) February 19, 2018
1. Mason Plumlee (2013): 83
2. Doral Moore (2018): 80
3. Montrezl Harrell (2014): 79
4. Brandan Wright (2007): 75
5. Brice Johnson (2016): 71
Moore is going to shatter the record this year.
Obviously its true, I read it on the internet.
88 dunks over 31 games comes out to just under 3 dunks per game, which was stunted by a 2 game dry spell to finish the regular season. If I’m not mistaken, the most dunks in a single game this season for Moore was the home game against NC State, in which Doral managed to slam it down 7 times. I look forward to Doral smashing this number next season and making it to triple digits. I, for one, think he can do it.
Take a look at the dunk reel below and let us know which one is your favorite in the comments.
tl;dr: This season didn’t go as planned, but watching Doral dunk is fun.
